Taig Khris, Champion roller skater jumped from the Eiffel Tower onto a ramp and set a new freefall record of 12.5 meters (41 feet) in France on Saturday. Jumping from the first floor of the Eiffel Tower 40 metres above ground onto a quarterpipe, Khris failed the landing on his first attempt.

Unfazed, he instantly tried again. After one unsuccessful attempt, he jumped again perfectly into the record books for the highest ever drop on roller skates.

Thousands of people gathered at the French landmark to see a skater dive from the first floor of the Eiffel tower into a huge quarter pipe.

After the vertiginous jump, he has broken the 8.53-metre record set by American Danny Way And said :“Two years non-stop, I didn’t sleep for nights and nights for that small moment up there and now, as you can see, I made it so that’s cool.”

He told AFP “I’ve never had such a strong adrenaline rush”. He also said he made the jump “to give people the desire to reach beyond their limits, to follow their passions, their dreams.”

34 year old Taig Khris is a former world record X-Games champ but he is still at the top of his game in an extreme sport where he regularly competes with participants half his age.
