Foods, containing high amount of salt, may cause the health problems especially high blood pressure. According to the American Medical Association (AMA), lowering the intake of sodium in the body can help reduce the risk of high blood pressure. Many of the processed and prepared foods, which are popular in parents and kids, usually loaded with high salt. Salt restriction diets are necessary for the people who take a diet rich in salt.

These high salted foods may cause the body to retain significant amount of fluids and so produces worsen edema. A constant salt concentration is needed in the tissue of body. But when excess salt is taken inside the body, it is diluted by retaining the more fluid. You should avoid several foods if you want to cut back on the amount of salt in your diet.

Avoid high salt foods because it may cause:

  • Kidney problems and kidney stones
  • Heart failure
  • Left ventricular hypertrophy

Pizza:

In pizza, garlic salt contributes high salt levels. Also, it is loaded with salt from tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. Many pizza parlors add salt or garlic salt to the mix, which can cause sodium levels to high.

Salad Bar “Extras”:

Salad bars are a great alternative to fast food. Vegetables are always safe and healthy but extras like imitation bacon bits, cheese, olives and salad dressings contain high amounts of salt. Plates containing olive oil optimum for black, green are particularly salty. The potato and macaroni salads contain mayonnaise and another salty ingredient so avoid it.

Fast Foods:

Excessive level of salt is present in fast foods. Crispy chicken sandwiches, French fries, and cheeseburgers are the obvious culprit. Pickles also contain a lot of salt. Even simple condiments like ketchup and mustard can spectacularly increase the amount of salt in your food.

Fried Fish:

Fried fish contains often twice calories compared to baked fish. So, instead of frying bake your meal.
