After five seasons, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s ‘Ghost Whisperer’ has been cancelled by CBS. Not only Ghost Whisperer but also several long-running shows have been decided to cancel by CBS.
Ghost Whisperer is an American supernatural show, which premiered on CBS on September 23, 2005. The life of Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt) is followed in the series. She has the ability to see and converse with ghosts. Melinda lives with her husband Jim Clancy. She is the owner of an antique shop called “Same as it Never Was”. Those who died with unfinished business become earth-bound and can not cross over are helped by Melinda as their earthly representative to find peace. John Gray created the show and in association with ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios, Sander/Moses Productions produces it.
Though, fans may want to hold off on praising Ghost for a day or two. ABC (which co-owns GW) may swoop in and rescue the show which is an outside chance.
In spite of a recent break up with boyfriend Jamie Kennedy, a series of rough patches has been hit by Hewitt. Steady job of actress is the reason behind the cancellation of CBS’s “Ghost Whisperer”, but rumours have been circulating that the show could get picked up by ABC, reported E! Online.
Nikki Finke reveals: “I hear talks with ABC for The Ghost Whisperer have started. Ghost Whisperer would be attractive to ABC at the right price. Better still, it is co-owned by ABC whose studio developed it before selling it to CBS, which owns half of the show.”
In an even later update the Hollywood insider adds: “I hear people close to ‘Ghost Whisperer’ feel optimistic about the show’s chances to continue on ABC.”
