ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to broadcast three Big Ten games a week on average. Big Ten games are highlighted by a telecast every Tuesday as part of the popular weekly Super Tuesday Big Ten 2011 men’s college basketball season which featuring doubleheader with the SEC. The action is set to take place on every Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET and 9 p.m. from Jan. 11 to March 1, 2011 with Wisconsin at Michigan State.

From 6 Jan, 2011, ESPN or ESPN2 will also televise a Big Ten game every Thursday with Northwestern at Illinois and from Jan. 22 to March 5 minimum one game every weekend. Eight-Week College Game Day and Saturday Primetime week game of ESPN will begin from two Big Ten sites with Michigan State at Purdue on Jan. 22 and with Illinois at Michigan State on Feb. 19.

Generally, besides an extensive schedule of non-conference action (schedule to be determined), the networks will combine 29 conference games. Each school in the conference set to be showcased on ESPN or ESPN2. ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to telecast four games of the Big Ten Conference Championship in March, 2011.

On the third day of the Olympic Games torch Youth Games when the committee took the Olympic torch to the young water! In Bedok, the highlight of the evening of Tuesday was being taken onto a tank dragonboat.

The Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee (SYOGOC) announced the route for the torch relay of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Yog Torch Relay Route updates. 2,400 torchbearers will attend the six-day event with a distance of 305 kilometers – equivalent to travelling the entire length of the island six times. From August 7 to 13 (with a break on 9 August) the Singapore leg of the Journey of the Youth Olympic Flame will be held passing through housing estates, parks, schools, historic sites, places of interests and Singapore’s financial and civic districts. Some 300,000 people are expected to line the streets and cheer for the event.

Starting in July 2010, the Youth Olympic Flame will be lit in Greece and then journey to Berlin (Germany), Dakar (Senegal), Mexico City (Mexico), Auckland (New Zealand) and Seoul (South Korea) before it arrives in Singapore.

On Wednesday, he budget for the inaugural YOG has surpassed original estimates of 75 million U.S. dollars by more than three times, which was reported by local media. Approximately 279 million U.S. dollars will be in the projected government spending for the 13-day Games in August.

SYOGOC has partnered five institutions to organise a Community Celebration on every night of the relay besides the en-route highlights. To join in the festivities at a different location each evening Members of the public are invited to party with thousands of others in celebration of the Journey of the Youth Olympic Flame around Singapore and welcome the world’s first Youth Olympic Games. Last week the list of schools and institutions partnering SYOGOC in the Singapore leg of the JYOF has been announced. Tickets sales to the first Youth Olympic Games have been brisk, above 160,000 or 60% of tickets for sale, are currently unavailable. Tickets of many sessions like basketball, diving, equestrian, fencing, modern pentathlon and swimming are not available now at most of 158 ticketed competition sessions at 16 competition venues. Tickets for athletics and gymnastics, with less than 100 tickets available for all sessions of archery, boxing, handball, shooting and taekwondo are being sold faster.

The sporting competition tickets are priced at $10 (Preliminaries), $15 (Quarter Finals/ Semi Finals) and $30 (Finals).

During the ongoing world cup matches, ever popular “vuvuzela” trumpet has been a dominant feature at the stadium but before and during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, vuvuzela has produced much controversy. In the western part of Pretoria, GNA Sports deemed it important to conduct a survey on the issue. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the 2010 World Cup is pondering over whether to ban the use of the controversial trumpet within the stadium or not with only a few days into the tournament. On Sunday evening, vuvuzela has become the single item for discussion in the media and LOC made that controversial statement. The vuvuzela has easily become part and parcel of the beautiful game in South Africa since the 1990. The vuvuzela has become a feature at every South Africa game and has widely spread across the continent since its introduction in 1990.

The vuvuzela may cause temporary noise-induced hearing loss, if blown in close proximity to the ear. This should return in a few days to weeks depending on the sound volume and period of exposure. Permanent hearing problems will be the result of repetition of exposure. Since the 2009 Confederations Cup, the call for its ban has only been in existence with its ability to drown television telecasting as the main argument against it. Players and officials have also complained about its effects on communication on the pitch, not just among them, but with officials, coaches and referees. Likes of Christiano Ronaldo, Patrice Evra, Lionel Messi, among a tall list, expressed their unhappiness at the instrument but according to thought of English defender Jamie Charagher, “it does not affect him either, and has even bought two for his children.” The vuvuzela remains the most popular cheer instrument and has become a symbol of the sport in current times with multitudes of football fans developing a deep rooted emotional attachment to the instrument.

Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia said, “the droning noise made by vuvuzelas is proving to be an irritation for the teams in the ongoing World Cup football and the musical instrument should be banned.” He added, “It is causing too much of an irritation. It has to be banned immediately. This kind of noise does not help football.” Players such as Spain’s Xabi Alonso stated, “The horns make it hard for players to communicate and concentrate, while adding nothing to the atmosphere.” France’s Patrice Evra stated, “We can’t sleep at night because of the vuvuzelas; people start playing them from six am. We can’t hear one another out on the pitch because of them.” According to the FIFA president, “banning the vuvuzela will be an attempt to Europeanise an African world cup.” For him, it is indeed an African World Cup, and must be used as the platform to demonstrate the culture of the continent, of which Vuvuzela is part.

Some of the signs and symptoms of hearing damage include :

• Ringing or buzzing in the ears, also referred to as tinnitus.
• Difficulty in hearing sounds or voices in situations where this was previously not a problem.
• Sounds appear to be muffled, like you have cotton wool in your ears.

An audiologist will be able to assess the degree of hearing loss which could be :

• profound (91dB or more).
• severe (71 to 90dB).
• moderate (41 to 70dB).
• mild (25 to 40dB).
