In the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve in north Georgia, a unique-looking cute little crossbred “zedonk” was born there about a week ago. When it was born, it even surprised the keepers of the preserve. It is a mix between zebra and donkey. While she was born, the baby zedonk was appeared as all zebra. It has black stripes demonstrated on her legs and face. Zedonk has a zebra father and donkey mother. The zedonk is doing fine ad it is 100% healthy, according to a source form the Preserve.

Zedonk is presently with her mother until she is mature enough. Till now no name is given to her, but may be they call her “Pippi”, for “Pippi Longstockings.” Founder of the wildlife preserve, C.W. Wathen said, “The animals have been running (in the fields) together for more than 40 years, but this is the first time that this has happened here. We never suspected that they (had mated), so it was quite a surprise when the zedonk was born.”

The zebra and donkey romance has taken many years in the making, but somehow the couple managed to keep it a secret. The preserve’s founder and general manager, C.W. Wathen said that the foal has a zebra’s instincts. Wathen said she sits up instead of lying on her side, as if she’s staying alert for predators. In about two weeks, Wathen said that the zedonk will begin roaming the property with the rest of the animals.

Wathen said that they keep all the animals fed really well, so a lot of the animals that would normally be predators in the wild run together in the same areas there. Wild animals are competing for food, but here they don’t have to compete, so there’s no fighting.

On the 25-acre nonprofit preserve, giant tortoises, macaws, white tigers, black leopards, and a 2-month-old wolf are residing.

“I know him as well or better than probably anyone other than his immediate family,” said Gary Cunningham, who played for Wooden from 1960 to 1962, served as an assistant under him for 10 years, then coached the Bruins from 1977 to 1979. “Or rather, I knew him so well. … It’s still sinking in for me that he’s gone,” Cunningham said.

To share the memories of players, an invitation was extended to a large group of Wooden’s former players by UCLA. Many wanted to attend but still felt too raw with emotion at his passing to appear in front of cameras and microphones so soon. An old story was also told by Cunningham, Keith Erickson, John Vallely, Marques Johnson, Jamaal Wilkes and Andre McCarter who attend the funeral.

The relationship between the coach and his players was a unique one only they can understand or express. He had made and molded players into the men they became, but their greatness and readiness to be molded had made him into the celebrated coach he became. “He didn’t swear. But what he did was, he would blow that whistle and everyone would turn, and he would say ‘Goodness gracious!’ and you knew you were in big trouble when he did that,” Erickson said. “Instead of unloading with every four-letter word.”

“When it was time to practice, there was no messing around. It was all business. He had these little 3-by-5 cards, and he had every minute down so at 3:23 we were going to be down at that basket and going over defensive rebounding drills. And then at 3:28, we’d be at this basket going over defensive stance. So it was from there to there, blow the whistle, to over here, the entire time. So when we did it with a quick pace and we did it properly, we were in and we were out in two hours. We didn’t need three or three and a half hour practices like other teams.”

Wooden’s life was a life well lived and he definitely deserves to be rewarded for his life. Today a legend has been lost by the sports but now it is time to celebrate the excellent person and basketball coach that is John Robert Wooden.

How to do Amarnath Yatra 2010 Registration?

One is required to get registered for performing this Yatra. J &K Govt does the registration. Tourist Offices are located at Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Jammu and Srinagar. In the prescribed format, applications for registration are reproduced at www.amarnathyatra.org. Print of this form can be used for registration. After filling the application form, you can sent it to the registration office nearest to you, along with two passport size photographs duly affixed at the indicated places, a self addressed pre stamped envelope (for speed post) and a medical fitness certificate from an MBBS doctor. For registration, each yatri has to submit a separate application. A registration-cum-identity slip will be issued by the registration authority to each yatri. To ensure a smooth passage, yatris are advised to carry this identity slip during the Yatra period.

For the annual Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir, which is commencing from June 18, registration has been started on Friday, 2 April 2010. On the first day, around 472 pilgrims registered themselves. At 100 different branches of J&K Bank (JKB) across the country, aspirant devotees can register themselves. RC Sharma, General Manager of JKB, and the incharge for registration said to News Agency of Kashmir adding the counters would be closed on July 30. He said, “the registration process for the annual pilgrimage has started and a total number of 2,86,680 pilgrims would be registered across the country by the bank branches,” and “We registered 472 pilgrims today at our different branches.”

For the registration, the bank has set up a counter at exhibition ground in Jammu. The counter will remain open from 3 pm to 6 pm on weekdays and on Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm. However the counters will remain closed on Sundays. An insurance cover will be provided by the pilgrims from Bajaj Alliance on payment of fixed premium and the same will be valid for Jammu-Srinagar and a return journey back to Jammu. Sharma added, “Each devotee will have to pay Rs 24 and it will cover only the route from Jammu to Amarnath and a return to Jammu”. Sharma said that 2,86,680 devotees will include 1,2960 people from J&K, referring to the quota fixed for the states as per the population.

Sharma informed the agency, “UP has a maximum quota for being the biggest state population wise and other states would also get the quota as per their respective population. Around 14,400 pilgrims would be registered from Andhra Pradesh, 6000 from Bihar, 1440 from Chandigarh, 1800 from Chhattisgarh, 45000 from Delhi, 120 from Goa, 34800 from Gujarat, 21000 from Haryana, 2160 from Himachal Pradesh, 1080 from Karnataka, 240 from Kerela, Maharastra 22200, Madhya Pradesh 12000, West Bengal 4800, Rajasthan 6000, Punjab 29400, Uttranchal 1200, Tamil Naidu 1080 and Utter Pradesh 58200.”

BP Plc. is a third largest energy company and the fourth largest company British global energy company in the world. It’s headquarter is situated at St James’s, City of Westminster, London and at Two Westlake Park in the Energy Corridor area of Houston, Texas.

BP began using high-horsepower pumps on May 26 to ram a mixture of mud-like drilling fluid and rubber scrap into the oil and gas that’s been spilling for over five weeks, this plan is known as ‘top kill.’

BP engineers rushed Sunday to implement a new high-risk plan to stop the overwhelming Gulf oil leak. After hours the British oil giant recognized failure in its “top kill” plan attempt to plug the underwater well. Company officials said it could take a week to implement the next bid placing a cap over the leak.

BP Managing Director Bob Dudley said CNN’s “State of the Union” program of the newest attempt to deal with the ruptured well nearly a mile (1,600 meters) under water, “Right now we are going to a containment operation.”

Dudley said, “Because this is being done at 5,000 feet with robots, we’re going to take our time, do it extremely carefully. By the end of the week, we should have this in place.”

A combination of heavy drilling fluid and eventually cement will be used for the “top kill” plan to seal the well. According to officials the new attempt plans for reducing the leak, and might temporarily improve the amount of oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico.

Thousands of oil gallons spew uncontrolled into the ocean each day in the meantime. BP is also drilling a relief well which is regarded as more permanent solution to the worst oil spill in U.S. history. But work will run another two months for finishing; the spill of oil may not be stopped up to August.

There are minimum 20 million gallons expected to have leaked into the ocean after the BP-leased Deepwater Horizon oil rig blasted on April 20 and sank, killing 11 workers.

Robots are using for cutting a damaged “riser” pipe carrying oil from the wellhead and placing a containment device named a Lower Marine Riser Package (LMRP) over the leak.

Managing Director of BP Bob Dudley said ABC’s This Week, “The relief well at the end of August is certainly the end point in this game.” He also said, “The failure … of the blowout presenters is something that’s also very, very troubling. It will impact the industry. It is the piece of equipment that is not expected to fail, and that’s going to have implications for everyone around the world.”

Carol Browner who is top environmental advisor of President Barack Obama told on Sunday that the spill was “probably the biggest environmental disaster we’ve ever faced in this country.” She added, “I think what the American people need to know is that it is possible that we will have oil leaking from this well until August when the relief wells will be finished.”

Carol Browner said, “When you cut the riser, the kink may be holding some of the oil in and so we could see an increase, experts are saying, of as much as 20 percent.” She added, “Once the cap is on, the question is how snug is that fit? If its a snug fit then there could be very, very little oil, if they’re not able to get a snug fit then there could be more.”

By the lack of progress, that is a nightmare scenario for a region under siege and increasingly disappointed.

Obama visited Louisiana on Friday for the second time since the spill began. On Saturday he promised to do anything to help those whose livings have been upended by this disaster.

He said, “We will not relent until this leak is contained, until the waters and shores are cleaned up, and until the people unjustly victimized by this manmade disaster are made whole.” He put in order to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and other top environmental officials for coming back to the region next week.

An expected 12,000 to 19,000 barrels of crude have leaked into the Gulf each day since the spill began.

Due to this danger disaster stretches of coastal fishing waters has already stopped up, this is endangering the seafood industry and tourism, and threatening a catastrophe for Louisiana marshes, home to many rare species.

According to Government data which was released on Thursday it is suggested between 18.6 million gallons and 29.5 million gallons of oil have poured into the Gulf — far more than the roughly 11 million gallons of crude spilled in the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster.

The well will be not finished until the middle of the Atlantic hurricane season. The project will be started on Tuesday. The crude will not affect the arrangement of storms, other than the cyclones could push the oil deeper into coastal marshes and estuaries and turn the oil into crashing black surf.

On Saturday BP Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles said, “This scares everybody, the fact that we can’t make this well stop flowing, the fact that we haven’t succeeded so far.”

Suttles said that at the beginning of the top kill effort, BP put the chances of it succeeding at 60 per cent to 70 per cent. The company created three pumping attempts, injecting over 30,000 barrels of mud into the hole.

Through scientists BP Plc CEO Tony Hayward on Sunday disputed states that the Gulf oil spill have set large undersea plumes adrift and said the cleanup fight has narrowed to face slicks rolling into Louisiana’s coastal marshes.

The University of South Florida, the University of Georgia, Southern Mississippi University and other institutions continue to study they took water samples in the Gulf over the last several weeks.

Marine scientist James Cowan of Louisiana State University said, “There’s been enough evidence from enough different sources.” He was finding a plume last week of oil on 50 miles from the spill site which is reached to depths of at least 400 feet.“
